Langjökull or the Long Glacier, is the second-largest in Iceland and is situated west of the Highlands region. The snowy landscape stretches as far as the eye can see and skiing and hiking are enjoyed by tourists and locals alike. Those seeking less strenuous but equally fun adventures in the snow can enjoy jeep and snowmobile tours. For travelers in quest of an authentic Icelandic experience with the accompanying adrenaline rush, dog sledding is a must! Aerial tours in helicopters are ideal for gaining a unique perspective of the snowy region. Apart from the natural wonders, this magnificent glacier is also home to a massive manmade ice cave with a café and a chapel inside. The restaurant at the base of the glacier is a great spot to fuel up with some authentic local cuisine.
