Bharatpur: Avian flights of fantasy! Bharatpur, best known for its bird sanctuary the Keoladeo Ghana National Park with a rich avian variety, is perhaps Asia’s finest. Annually in winter, the rare Siberian cranes migrate to the warmer climate of Bharatpur. The Bharatpur Palace has a number of 15th century ancient exhibits.
Formerly called the Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary, the Keoladeo Ghana National Park is ideal for nature lovers and bird watchers! Originally used as a duck shooting reserve for Maharaja Suraj Mal of Bharatpur, the park is home to thousands of birds in winter. On a half day bicycle rickshaw safari accompanied by a trained naturalist, you can view the amazing flora and fauna the park has to offer, including swamp areas, open fields and dense shrubbery. See colourful butterflies, local and migratory birds, spot some deer, hyenas and a bunch of other mammals.
