Camp Figtree is a private Lodge bordering the Addo National Park, with wonderful views over the Zuurberg Mountains. Designed around its original 1920’s traditional colonial building style, historically this includes the distinctive use of corrugated iron roofing and wide, sweeping verandas which provide areas for relaxed sociability. The lounge and dining room are of the romantic colonial era. 4 suites/rooms offer guests the unique opportunity to experience the gracious style of old world elegance, exclusivity and privacy. Each bedroom, with bathroom en-suite, is individually decorated with its own veranda and private views. In addition, a separate tented camp is situated in close proximity to the main lodge, and is designed to mirror the hey-day of the golden years of the East African tented safari. Evenings are spent in traditional African style around a unique ‘boma’ with the sounds of the crackling fire and night noises drifting up from the lush valley below. Safaris into the River Bend Conservancy are conducted by professional game rangers and trackers (not included in the price). From an open Land Rover you are likely to see wildlife such as Kudu, Bushbuck, Leopard, Caracal, Bush Pig and Jackal. Additionally, a trip into the neighbouring Addo National Park, a mere 10 minutes away, affords guests outstanding opportunities for viewing Elephant (not included).
