Montusi Mountain Lodge

Montusi is situated on a 1000 hectare estate, in the Kwazulu-Natal Drakensberg, with an uninterrupted view of the Drakensberg’s most famous part, the Amphitheatre escarpment. The indigenous trees and manmade forests continue to flourish and the resultant birdlife has become abundant. This ethic has resulted in the return of the Mountain Reedbuck, Vaal Rhebuck, Bushbuck and the elusive Eland to this area once inhabited by Bushmen. The lodge offers accommodation in a total of 14 tastefully and individually decorated rooms/suites, set in open gardens each with spectacular views of the Amphitheatre and surrounding mountains. Each room has an en-suite bathroom with bath and walk-in shower – the Honeymoon Suites have a corner tub for two -, a lounge with a television, gas operated fire place and private patio. Tea and coffee making facilities, including a bar fridge, are provided. Minibar facility in the suite is available upon request. All suites have a car port for one vehicle. There are six privately owned, thatched self-catering cottages on the estate, some of which are let out through the Lodge. The thatched main area comprises of the reception, dining room, terrace, bar, lounge and massage treatment room. Enjoy sumptuous local cuisine in the lodge restaurant, with under-floor heating and log fireplace, served – in summer – on the Phumleni with the Amphitheatre view. Breakfast and dinner are included for lodge guests. Light lunches are available between 12h30 and 14h00 (not included).
