Karangoma is located on the north-eastern arm of the Okavango Delta in the heart of the KAZA Transfrontier Park. It is part of a partnership with local elder Olatotse Sarefo and is rooted in Bukakhwe San and Hambukushu culture. The only way to reach this camp is by air. Take a 25-minute flight in a light aircraft from Maun to the Vumbura Airstrip and then switch to a helicopter for a 10-to-12 minute flight to the camp. There are six spacious tents set on low wooden decks that provide expansive views of the floodplain. The interiors feature a modern twist on the textures, colors, and patterns of Hambukushu basketry. In your free time, enjoy a relaxing dip in the plunge pool. The dining area and lounge also provide views across the floodplain. In the evening, you can gather around the fire pit. Go on day and night game drives to look for animals such as elephants, lions, leopards, and wild dogs. To get a better feel for the land, head out on a bush walk. You can also go boating in the delta’s many channels.
