Ubud

Ubud is the cultural heart of Bali. Home to the country’s royal family, the town is rich in art and at the center of Balinese craft and traditional dance. In 1936, the King of Ubud co-founded the Pitamaha Artists Cooperative, in which both Balinese and Western painting styles have mutually been flourishing. The town itself has developed dramatically over the past twenty years, with many shops and boutiques offering an ideal ground for unusual and unique retail therapy. Despite this growth, Ubud and its surrounding villages continue to be harmonious and unspoilt. Breathe in the breathtaking beauty, as you witness gently rolling, often terraced paddy fields, dotted with occasional Hindu temples. Rainforests with majestic, centuries-old trees, and dramatic gorges within the tranquil foothills, await your discovery.

Discover Ancient Ubud Attractions

Unravel the mysteries of ancient Ubud on this captivating exploration of prominent landmarks. Head to Goa Gajah or Elephant Cave, a ninth century sanctuary for Buddhist monks, known for its exquisite carvings. Travel on to the small settlement of Pejeng that sits tucked into the Petauan River Valley. Get a good look at the largest single-cast bronze kettle drum housed in the Pura Penataran Asih temple before you wander around the Purbakala Archaeological Museum. Stop by some of the smaller temples in the vicinity including the Pura Arjuna Metapa that sits amid a verdant paddy field. As you journey on to central Ubud, savor views of the terrace fields at Tegalalang. You could also choose to relish lunch in town and browse around the local market with its apparel, leather goods, and handcrafted jewelry before you head back. Mount Batur Trek With Volcano Cooking

Set off in the afternoon with your expert guide to explore the fascinating volcanic craters formed by the active Mount Batur volcano. Walk across the unique landscape comprising of ash cones and frozen lava rocks formed by over a dozen volcanic eruptions between 1963 and 1999. Pass by an expanse of volcanic ash as you make your way to the rim. Enjoy splendid views of the caldera along with gorgeous vistas of Lake Batur, Mount Agung, and Mount Abang. You might even be able to see as far as Mount Batukaru and Mangu Peak on a clear day! Stroll along for a closer look at fumaroles and mini stalactites of colorful mineral deposits caused by the steam. Sip on afternoon tea as you watch your guide prepare your meal in a unique volcano oven! Enjoy your food before you saunter down the mountain to the vehicle that awaits you. Through temples and volcanoes (en-route Ubud-Munduk)

Explore a verdant landscape and a discover lovely lakes in central Bali. En route to Munduk from your hotel in Ubud, stop at Lake Tamblingan and take a short walk through a stretch of dense tropical forest adjacent to the lake. To return, climb aboard a canoe and, as you are getting rowed across the lake, enjoy the scenery and views of distant volcanoes sitting right next to each other. The next stop will be at beautiful Lake Bratan, where you will visit the temple of Ulun Danu. The 17th century temple is located at the lake´s western shore and dedicated to the goddess of the lake. Munduk

Munduk in Bali is undoubtedly one of the most charming mountain villages of Indonesia. With its lush hills that are dotted with jungles, paddy fields, fruit trees and other island plants, it is the ideal location to unwind within the harmony of nature. Considerably cooler than other areas of Bali, this region is home to dozens of hazy waterfalls that dramatically rush over rocky slopes. Archaeologists have dug up the past and discovered that Munduk was once home to a sophisticated civilization between the 10th to 14th centuries. In the 1890s, the Dutch conquered the area and developed an economical hub with a wide range of coffee, vanilla, cocoa and clove plantations. Today, the village is home to several accommodation options, catering to all types of visitors – adventurous hikers, casual trekkers, and gentle day dreamers alike.

Explore Sekumpul, the prettiest waterfall in Bali, on this half-day tour. Pass through a series of mountain villages in North Bali on the two-hour journey from Munduk to the falls, which are located in a rich rainforest. Sekumpul means a group or collection in the local language, and these falls are split into seven by the high cliff over which it tumbles, each with different heights and water flow. The largest falls around 80m, making it the tallest waterfall in Bali. If you feel brave enough, go for a swim in one of the natural pools. Sidemen

Sideman is a quaint and picturesque town nestled in the foothills of the majestic Mount Agung of East Bali. The town is surrounded with lush green rice fields and vast agricultural lands. You will see little temples perched on boulders dotting the greenery. Walking trails, mountain views, mesmeric valleys of the Unda River, and coffee and cocoa plantations add to its scenic beauty. Connect with traditional village life on a stroll in the by lanes, lined with thatched huts. You can chat with the friendly Balinese villagers and learn about their rituals and beliefs.

Immerse yourself in nature on this excursion through Sideman, a gorgeous little valley set against the backdrop of Mount Agung, in eastern Bali. Fed by the Unda River, the valley offers excellent conditions for agriculture, especially rice, but also chilies, peanuts, coffee and snake fruit. Your day begins with a walk through green rice terraces, across gurgling streams and past Hindu villages, giving you an insight into rural Balinese life. Then take a three-hour round-trip hike to the summit of Banjar Sangkan Gunung to see Pura Bukit Tegeh Temple. The final portion is a steep hike through gorges until you arrive at the temple. Take a moment to catch your breath before enjoying the spectacular views of the river snaking its way through the valley below. Labuan Bajo is a quaint fishing town set to the far west of the Nusa Tenggara region. Labuan Bajo is just a short boat ride away from the Komodo archipelago which is home to extraordinary marine life and the fabled Komodo dragon – the largest living lizard in the world!

There are about 2,000 dragons on the island, which can grow to three meters in length, weigh as much as 65kg, and run at speeds up to 11 miles an hour. Dragon Spotting and Marine Life Snorkelling
