Explore West Maui on your own

Ziplining is a great way to take in the scenic coastline on this side of the island. If you are here around sunset, make sure to catch the cliff diving ceremony off the beach as well. For a magical sunset, hop across to the islands of Lānaʻi and Molokaʻi, where the sun bathes the coastline in a golden glow as it descends beneath the waves. The best surfing spot is Honolua Bay. Its coral formations and rich marine life make it a great spot for snorkeling and scuba diving too. For a change of pace, visit the upscale resort area of Kapalua, where you will find award-winning restaurants and boutique stores. Another option is the vibrant Kāʻanapali Resort. Enjoy a leisurely stroll along the Kāʻanapali Beachwalk and soak up the view. There are plenty of shops and restaurants here too. The historical town of Lahaina was devastated by the 2023 wildfires and while you need to stay away from the fire-affected areas, several restaurants, businesses and activities have now reopened.
