As the largest city of East Africa, you can experience contemporary urban African life in Nairobi with colorful street markets, authentic African cuisine, and a buzzing nightlife. Discover the National Museum or explore Kenya’s historic roots with a visit to the Karen Blixen Museum. Feed giraffes in the Giraffe Center or get very close to baby elephants and cheetah in the David Sheldrick Center and animal orphanage. Enjoy the many fun activities on offer at Giraffe Manor. Head to the giraffe center on the premises, run by the African Fund for Endangered Wildlife (AFEW). Set up in 1979, the center creates wildlife awareness and runs a breeding program for giraffes. Step on to the feeding platform to interact with friendly Rothschild’s giraffes in search of tasty treats. Learn more about this endangered species from the knowledgeable staff. Afterwards, enjoy a game of croquet on the lush lawns of the manor and try your hand at boules in the custom-built pit nearby. Ol Pejeta is a private wildlife conservancy, situated between the foothills of the Aberdares and the magnificent snow-capped Mount Kenya, and has one of the highest density of wildlife in Kenya and boasts an astounding variety of animals, including the “Big Five“. It offers very diverse safari activities, with day and night game drives, guided bush walks and camel riding safaris across its game-rich plains. The neighboring chimpanzee sanctuary is worth a visit for those who have an interest in our closest relatives. Ol Pejeta is also a good base for exploring the Aberdares, Mt Kenya and Solio Game Reserve. Solio is a private wildlife conservancy, situated between the foothills of the Aberdares and the magnificent snow-capped Mount Kenya, and home to over 70 Black and more than 150 White Rhino, as well as buffalo, zebra, giraffe and plains game such as Eland, Oryx, impala, waterbuck, gazelle and warthog.

Manyara & Ngorongoro

Nestled at the base of the Great Rift Valley escarpment, Lake Manyara National Park is stunningly beautiful. You might spot a famous tree-climbing lion stretched on the branches of a flat-topped acacia tree, whilst lake views are made lovelier with a 400-strong bird species, including pelicans. Journey further to the Ngorongoro Crater, which has one of the highest wildlife densities on earth with antelopes, wildebeest, zebra and the Big Five. One of the natural wonders of the world, the wildlife of Ngorongoro co-exists peacefully with the local Maasai people and their cattle. Surrounding foothills offer lush green landscapes dotted with small villages and picturesque coffee and tea plantations that you can explore by bicycle or on foot.

Central Serengeti

The Central Serengeti is the heart of the sprawling Serengeti National Park in Tanzania, the world’s best-known wildlife sanctuary. A prime wildlife viewing spot, this area is packed with predators such as lions, cheetahs, and leopards. The Seronera River carves out a verdant valley here, making it one of the richest ecosystems in the Serengeti. See the rocky granite outcrops known as kopjes, a favorite hideout of the Big Cats. At Moru Kopjes, you might chance upon the last of the elusive black rhinos in their natural habitat. The ancient rock art paintings of Gong Rock and Lake Magadi with its pink flamingos are nearby. Don’t miss the Retina Hippo Pool located at the confluence of two rivers. The Serengeti is best known for the unique annual spectacle known as the Great Migration, where vast numbers of wildebeest, zebras and gazelles travel across the park in a pattern. In April and November, the Central Serengeti turns into a hotspot of wildebeest sightings. Hot air balloon safaris are an excellent way to view wildlife here.

The trip was planned perfectly from beginning to the end. We were notified of any changes to the schedule based on delayed flights etc. It is a real advantage to have Enchanting Travels make the arrangements that allowed us to speed through customs and visa checks. Just the ease of the logistics that comes with traveling with Enchanting Travels keeps up going back to them when we are planning a trip. The experiences were beyond words. Our game drive guides were exceptional in getting us to where the animals were so we could enjoy seeing cheetah cubs at play while mom watched, lion cubs playing while a group of lioness’s napped in the sun and two male lions did the same. The most incredible sight was watching a group of 6 lioness’s separate a female buffalo and her calf and going on to taking them both down. It was like watching a Nat Geo film but we were there within 30 yards to watch. Our accommodations were top notch, staff everywhere we were were exceptional, and the settings were all different but wonderful. Our trip coordinator was in constant contact just to check in and see if there was anything we needed her to do. The Trip Agent App, our first time using it, was a very nice feature and was so much easier to use rather than pulling out a hard copy of the trip to find the answer to our questions. I wasn’t sure if I would use it or not but became dependent on it. Traveling doesn’t get any better if you travel with Enchanting Travels. We will be back!
