Dar es Salaam

Located in a quiet bay off the Indian Ocean coast, Dar es Salaam is the main port in Tanzania and has a bustling harbor. A visit to the daily fish market is a memorable experience! Remnants of British and German colonial presence can still be seen in the landmarks and architecture around the city. The National Museum, the Village Museum, and many colorful markets are well worth a visit. Numerous historical landmarks, including St. Joseph’s Cathedral, the White Father’s Mission House, the Botanical Gardens, and the old State House make for an interesting walking tour around the waterfront and city center.

A scenic flight to Nyerere National Park (formerly known as Selous Game Reserve) offers a wonderful birds’ eye perspective of the many waterways of one of Africa’s largest protected wildlife reserve, home to roaming elephant populations, wild dogs, and some of the last black rhino. Due to its remote location, Nyerere has remained one of Tanzania’s best parks. You can experience a boating safari along the Rufiji river, whilst a walking safari and fly camping will add a sense of adventure to your African safari.
