Located in a quiet bay off the Indian Ocean coast, Dar es Salaam is the main port in Tanzania and has a bustling harbor. A visit to the daily fish market is a memorable experience! Remnants of British and German colonial presence can still be seen in the landmarks and architecture around the city. The National Museum, the Village Museum, and many colorful markets are well worth a visit. Numerous historical landmarks, including St. Joseph’s Cathedral, the White Father’s Mission House, the Botanical Gardens, and the old State House make for an interesting walking tour around the waterfront and city center.

Discover an untouched gem! A scenic flight to Nyerere National Park (formerly known as Selous Game Reserve) offers a wonderful birds’ eye perspective of the many waterways of one of Africa’s largest protected wildlife reserve, home to roaming elephant populations, wild dogs, and some of the last black rhino. Due to its remote location, Nyerere has remained one of Tanzania’s best parks. You can experience a boating safari along the Rufiji river, whilst a walking safari and fly camping will add a sense of adventure to your African safari. Decide each day whether you prefer an early bush walk or a sumptuous breakfast, a game drive or a romantic sundowner!

Experience stunning sightings of herds of elephants, buffalo, lion prides, leopards and a host of other wild animals on game drives at the Nyerere National Park. Look out for packs of the fierce African wild dog that this region is particularly well-known for. The best time for wildlife sighting is during early mornings and late afternoons. Marked by lakes, rivers, swamps and tall, swaying palms, unlike most of Tanzania’s savannah country, the sprawling Nyerere can be explored on boat safaris as well. Fishing opportunities are aplenty, especially in the waterways linking the Manze and Nzerakera lakes, where pods of hippos wallow. Spot Pel’s fishing owl, fish eagles and numerous exotic birds native to this wildly beautiful corner of Tanzania. Go on bush walks with an experienced naturalist and guide. Experience the thrill of getting up-close with a diverse range of animals and plantlife, track wildlife on foot and discover the small wonders of nature during your time at the Selous.

Your true wilderness! As Tanzania’s largest national park, Ruaha is a wonderful bastion with its undisturbed wildlife, and breathtaking scenery. Large herds of elephants, vast concentrations of buffalo, gazelle, and over 400 bird species abound. Due to its remote location, Ruaha National Park is largely unexplored and a safari here often has the feel of a private, rare adventure. Enjoy unique experiences such as game drives where you are unlikely to encounter any other vehicles. You can also explore the rugged landscapes of Ruaha during beautiful bush walks.

Encounter spectacular game sightings of lion prides, leopards, kudu, roan antelope and a host of other wildlife and exotic birds on safari drives to the Ruaha National Park. Look out for the region’s famous resident population of the endangered African wild dog, bat-eared fox and cheetah. Make the most of the opportunity to take exciting night drives to spot rare nocturnal wildlife. Early mornings and late afternoons are always the best times for birdlife and wildlife sightings. Take a relaxed break to relish delicious bush breakfasts under an iconic baobab tree, before setting off into the Tanzanian wilderness once again. Go on bush walks with an experienced naturalist and guide. There are plenty of options on the city’s gorgeous beaches: admire the coastline from a bird’s eye view while skydiving. Alternatively, don your snorkeling or scuba gear and dive into the warm waters to get up close with the numerous endemic species. Make your way to Nungwi for a thrilling jet-ski adventure around the remote island of Tumbatu and Kendwa with a short break for some swimming. Make full use of the favorable wave and wind conditions at this tropical paradise to enjoy master kiteboarding and wakeboarding under the guidance of expert instructors. From the moment we first started planning the trip to the moment we got on the plane to go home, we felt so cared for. Our trip coordinator, Cyprian, was the best!!! We always knew what was going on, and he was never more than a call or text away. The game drives were unreal and we got so close to the animals. The food was delicious and the chefs were top notch. The servers at every lodge, who were mostly young men, were so kind and wonderful. All the staff were warm and welcoming. The sun downers were amazing. It’s an unexplainable feeling to watch elephants walking by while sipping on a cocktail. All the guides were so knowledgeable. We always felt safe, secure, and happy. The lodges were in nature, but contained every necessity required to feel luxurious. The experiences, such as visiting and feeding Baraka, the blind rhino, will last a lifetime. This was the most amazing trip ever!
