Dali Tours

Dali is located in China’s south western Yunnan province on the shores of Erhai Lake, between the Cang mountains to the west and Mount Jizu to the east. Steeped in the history of dynasties and conquests, this medieval capital of powerful kingdoms was razed down by Mongols and then rebuilt by the Ming dynasty in the 14th century. The present city is divided into two areas – the walled Ancient City with its natural beauty, history and cultural heritage, and vibrant nightlife, and the New District (also known as Xiaguan) which has seen much Industrial development. Discover traditional Chinese style houses both in the old town and in the surrounding countryside, with tiled roofs and bricks, plaster, or whitewashed walls. Beyond the bustle of modernity, many ethnic minorities continue to call Dali home, weaving their folk customs into everyday life in the city. Their influence is evident in the many festivals hosted in Dali, including the March Street Festival and Butterfly Fest.
Adventure seekers may also find the fascinating hiking and cycling routes in the mountains beyond the city hard to resist.
