Gondal is an erstwhile princely state of the Jadeja Rajput clan, near Rajkot in Gujarat. Dotted with beautiful palaces, this laidback and charming little town stands by a quietly flowing river. Apart from the intricately detailed architecture of Gondal’s many palaces and their sprawling grounds, the town’s vintage car collection is worth taking a look at. From an early 1900s New Engine owned by the last Maharaja of Gondal, and a seven seater 1930s Mercedes, to more stylish 1930s convertibles and a 1950s Cadillac limousine pay a visit to this classic collection. The town is also a center for the region’s colorful and distinctive handicrafts and textiles. Perhaps because of its riverside location dotted with freshwater lakes, Gondal is a magnet for flocks of migratory as well as resident birds.
