Otjiwarongo is a lively town that serves as a regional hub in north-central Namibia. It is a three-hour drive from Windhoek on the B1 Highway and is often referred to as the ‘Cheetah Capital of the World’. The Cheetah Conservation Fund is located about 45 minutes outside town and is open to visitors. You can take a guided tour, watch cheetah runs, and learn about their ‘livestock guarding dog’ program. The surrounding area is also home to the Okonjima Nature Reserve, which is well known for its leopard and cheetah tracking. It is a great place to see these big cats up close in a rehabilitated environment.
