Jabiru is located within the Kakadu National Park in Australia’s Northern Territory. This little town in the middle of nowhere owes its existence to the Ranger uranium mine. It was built in the early ‘80s for the little mining community who originally lived farther away in Jabiru East. But more than a mining town, today it operates as the main service center to the national park. With its bank, service station, medical clinic, supermarket, lodges and restaurants, Jabiru is as an excellent base for travelers headed to Kakadu National Park.
