The charming town of Kingscote nestles cozily between the hills and the sea. Swaying pines and a smattering of restaurants and cafes welcome you to this serene destination. Historically significant as the oldest European settlement in South Australia, it is the largest town on Kangaroo Island. Home to a colony of the world’s smallest penguins, the town also features a cluster of heritage sites. Hope Cottage with its folk museum is for the history buffs whereas the Kangaroo Island Art Gallery showcases local talent through its collection of paintings, photographs, jewelry, and wood craft. While Reeves Point with its iconic mulberry tree is a great picnic spot, Busby Islet Conservation Park, which is a small nature reserve, is a quick boat ride away.
