San Agustin Vacation
The wild and mystical San Agustín, buzzing with architectural wonders, is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site. Strategically located near the headwaters of the Magdalena and the Cauca River valley civilizations that date back some five thousand years, the town is a mute sentinel of its past glory. The spectacular San Agustín Archaeological Park is the largest complex of pre-Columbian megalithic monuments and structures in the continent. Hundreds of skilfully chiselled mythical beasts, sacred animals, gods and masked figures, carved out of volcanic rock, lie strewn about the lush hills of this fertile and forested region. The town also boasts quaint little country houses from the colonial era, painted in white and dark green.
