Mdonya Old River Camp is for people looking for a genuine, off the beaten track, round-the-campfire experience. It is located in the north western part of the Ruaha National Park beside the old course of the Mdonya River and it takes around 2 hours to drive from the airstrip, which guarantees a rare privacy as few other vehicles will be seen in the area. Guests are accommodated in 11 large tents, well spaced along side the course of the old river. Simply furnished, each tent has a double or twin bed with an en-suite bathroom that has a flush toilet and open air shower. There is no electricity in the tents and light is provided by candles making this a true safari experience. The dining and lounge tents sit under sycamore fig trees overlooking the dry river bed which is used by game as a corridor, so that guests can enjoy the game viewing while having lunch or relaxing. It is not unusual to see Lion in or around the camp, as well as Elephant and Buffalo. The food here is really tasty home cooking ensuring you will leave here a little heavier.
