Uakari Lodge is located inside the Mamiraua Sustainable Development Reserve, an hour by speedboat from the town of Tefe. Situated at the confluence of the Japura and Solimoes rivers, it offers the perfect base for your Brazilian Amazon adventure. This wilderness hideaway is named after the rare, white uakari monkey and is a great example of ecotourism. Designed to float with the rise and fall of the water levels, the hotel has been constructed using local wood as well as thatch from recycled plastic bottles. Accommodation, at this community-run boutique retreat, is spread across cottages connected by a series of walkways. Settle into a floating cabin that is comfortably decorated and comes with its own ensuite and a terrace that overlooks the jungle and river. For some downtime, relax in the hammock on your porch or unwind in the bar or library. All meals are served in the common dining area, in the separate interconnected central building. Dine on hearty Amazonian dishes, prepared using varieties of freshwater fish and seasonal produce, paired with wines, beers and spirits.
