Pasikudah Beach Trip

The coastal resort town of Pasikudah or Pasikuda, lies about 35 kilometers northwest of Batticaloa town, easily accessible also from Trincomalee. The name’s Tamil translation denotes ‘Green Algae Bay’. It is considered one of safest beaches on Sri Lanka’s east coast for sea bathing as the water is only a couple of inches deep, and the currenst are comparatively weaker than other Sri Lankan beaches. Prior to the 2004 Indian Ocean Tsunami and the Sri Lankan Civil War, Pasikudah was once a popular tourist destination for both locals and foreigners. It is now once again fast developing into an international hotspot and tourist destination. Pasikuda is famous for having one of the longest stretches of shallow coastline in the world naturally cordoned off by coral reefs – you can boldly venture kilometers out into the sea waters and still feel the sands beneath your feet! Untouched shallow beaches, white sands, crystal clear calm waters, beautiful marine life and sheer unrivaled beauty make Pasikudah a great beach destination.
