Barichara Trips

The pretty little colonial town of Barichara in Columbia was declared a national monument in the 1970s. With its highland climate, natural beauty, and old-world charm, Barichara attracts visitors all around the year. Legend has it that the town was created in the early 1700s after a local farmer had a divine vision of the Virgin Mary in his fields. Today, the town exudes romance and charisma with its cobbled streets and whitewashed houses with red roofs. Barichara’s key landmarks include the 18th Century church of Catedral de la Inmaculada Concepción, with its golden stonework, as well as the Iglesia de Santa Bárbara church, which is perched on a hill with lovely panoramic views of the town stretched out below. While in Barichara, you may be lucky enough to catch a concert at the beautiful little park, Parque Para Las Artes, decorated with local artwork and water features.
