Spend some downtime! As the largest city of East Africa, you can experience contemporary urban African life in Nairobi with colorful street markets, authentic African cuisine, and a buzzing nightlife. Discover the National Museum or explore Kenya’s historic roots with a visit to the Karen Blixen Museum. Feed giraffes in the Giraffe Center or get very close to baby elephants and cheetah in the David Sheldrick Center and animal orphanage. On Nairobi’s doorstep, enjoy afternoon walks and spectacular sundowners in the Ngong Hills, or head to Nairobi National Park for the the only place in the world to witness wild lions against the backdrop of skyscrapers.

An uplifting day with Kenyan women

Get ready for an uplifting day with an inspirational group of Kenyan women. Visit a Women’s Empowerment Centre, a hive of activity as women are busy learning various skills to help them on their journey to self-sustainability! You could find them in a sewing class, making candles, beading jewellery, or studying business management to enable them to start their own small businesses. Get to know some of the women who have graduated from the 18-month program as they share their stories over a cup of hot Kenya chai and give you deep insights into Kenyan culture, traditions and the challenges they have both faced and overcome. You can share your personal and professional experience with the women and learn from one another. In the afternoon, visit some of the women who have returned home to their Masai village on the outskirts of Nairobi to get a glimpse of their daily life and for more sharing, learning and laughter!

If you’re feeling adventurous, camp out under the stars within the Mukogodo forest. For the ultimate cultural immersion, visit the cluster of Maasai villages within the Il Ngwesi Group Ranch to get a glimpse into their distinct lifestyle. Star Bed at Il Ngwesi

Discover the unique experience of sleeping under a star-studded Kenyan sky at Il Ngwesi Lodge. Two spacious rooms, creatively designed with local sustainable material, offer you the unique experience of sleeping out in the open while your favorite nocturnal animals come out to play. The thatched, cottage-like rooms are tucked away in a secluded corner of this rustic-chic hillside property, perched on stilts and shaded by a thick canopy of trees. The lovely earthy accommodation overlooks a resident water hole, with spectacular views of the surrounding Mararoi hills and the Samburu valley beyond. Classic Africa! The Masai Mara will fulfill your dreams with its iconic, endless African landscapes of golden grass dotted with picturesque acacia trees that is home to year-round wildlife viewing: cheetah, leopard, large prides of lions, elephants, giraffe, hyena, huge Nile crocodiles, frolicking hippos and many other species. From mid July to October, enjoy the annual migration as two million wildebeests and zebras seek better pastures. Witness dramatic crossings over the crocodile-infested Mara river for one of the most spectacular wildlife experiences on earth.

The trip was planned perfectly from beginning to the end. We were notified of any changes to the schedule based on delayed flights etc. It is a real advantage to have Enchanting Travels make the arrangements that allowed us to speed through customs and visa checks. Our drivers were always there waiting for our arrival so no time wasted waiting. Just the ease of the logistics that comes with traveling with Enchanting Travels keeps up going back to them when we are planning a trip. The experiences were beyond words. Our game drive guides were exceptional in getting us to where the animals were so we could enjoy seeing cheetah cubs at play while mom watched, lion cubs playing while a group of lioness’s napped in the sun and two male lions did the same. The most incredible sight was watching a group of 6 lioness’s separate a female buffalo and her calf and going on to taking them both down. It was like watching a Nat Geo film but we were there within 30 yards to watch. Our accommodations were top notch, staff everywhere we were were exceptional, and the settings were all different but wonderful. Our trip coordinator was in constant contact just to check in and see if there was anything we needed her to do. The Trip Agent App, our first time using it, was a very nice feature and was so much easier to use rather than pulling out a hard copy of the trip to find the answer to our questions. I wasn’t sure if I would use it or not but became dependent on it. Traveling doesn’t get any better if you travel with Enchanting Travels. We will be back!
