Shark Cage Diving

Experience the thrill of seeing Great White Sharks face to face. Only a 30 – 45 minutes drive from Cape Town, depending on the traffic, you will arrive at Simon’s Town from where you will embark on an exciting journey of adventure to the Great White Trips, Seal Island. False Bay, where the expedition operates, is one of the most richly diverse oceanic habitats in the world, an area made famous by the spectacular hunting behavior of its Great White Sharks.Hundreds of Great White Sharks have decided that this is where they call home. A typical white shark diving excursion takes about 3 hours, depending on the weather, sea conditions and shark behavior. You have the option of viewing sharks from the boat or entering the water in a secure cage. The specially designed shark diving cage is very secure and floats with part of the cage out of the water. Divers are never more than one meter below the surface and no bulky scuba equipment is needed. The best time of year to view great white sharks is from June to September. During this time 4 or 5 sharks are usually encountered in a day, but as many as 18 have been seen.

Cape Peninsula Out & About Adventure

The tour starts at Kalkbay, a fishing town much loved for its bohemian feel, and working fishing harbor. A gentle hike out of town into the mountains will lead you into forest glades of Milkwoods and Fynbos, alive with birds and small mammals.
