The town of Pitalito is part of the Department of Huila in the fertile valley of the Magdalena River in southern Colombia. It was founded by Catholic missionaries and their Spanish parishioners in the early 19th century. Also known as The Valley of Laboyos, this fertile agricultural stretch is renowned as the largest producer of coffee in Colombia and has received many an accolade for producing some of the best coffee in the country! The spectacular UNESCO World Heritage site San Agustín Archaeological Park is located less than an hour’s drive away from Pitalito.
