Hacienda La Alegria is a family-run farm in the heart of Ecuador’s ‘Avenue of the Volcanoes’ just one hour south of Quito.
Within the ‘Avenue of the Volcanoes,’ near indigenous villages and local markets stands the beautiful and little-known colonial Hacienda of San Agustín de Callo. Built on the site of a former Inca palace, one of the two most important archaeological Inca sites in Ecuador, this working farm offers an unrivalled glimpse into Ecuador’s rich and colourful past. Since the 15th century San Agustin de Callo has served as an Inca fortress, Augustinian convent and temporary home for several famous historical visitors during colonial times. Its five guestrooms feature original Inca stone walls, colonial architecture and loads of authentic charm, making this hacienda a truly a special and exclusive experience for guests.
