Hidden away in a remote valley next to the Lewa Wildlife Conservancy in Laikipia, Borana has wide views of the Borana plains. It is a family hosted luxury lodge with creative interior decor that has a very personal touch giving it a very homelike feel. The sitting room with its fire place, warm walls, comfortable seats and colourful cushions is very cosy and perfect for relaxing and chatting while having drinks after dinner. The horizon swimming pool which seems to spill into the valley below invites the guest to take a dip, relax and view the landscape. Accomodation is offered in eight imaginatively and individually designed rooms with terraces and ensuite bathtubs and showers. One of the rooms has its own private pool on the terrace from which guests can view game, watch and listen to the numerous birds as well as enjoy magnificent sunrises. Guests can do day and night game drives and bush walks, for example to Pride Rock which inspired the makers of the movie ‘Lion King’. Borana is also particularly well suited as a base for guests who are interested in horse riding, which can range from half a day up to two weeks.
