Oslo is the capital of Norway and the green capital of Europe. With an urban skyline of marvelous modern architecture, numerous public parks and open green spaces, the city is a traveler’s delight. Sitting at the head of the Oslofjord, with the snowy slopes and alpine forests of Nordmarka looming in the background, Oslo offers picture-perfect visuals of northern waterways, arctic islands, and snowcapped mountains. Apart from being a winter sports paradise, Oslo is the city of Edvard Munch and Henrik Ibsen, making it a haven for art and culture lovers. The city is dotted with numerous museums, art galleries and parks, with the main highlight being the popular Vigeland Park and museum with Vigeland’s sculpture. The waterfront fort and former prison of Akershus Fortress are worth a visit, as is the Viking Ship Museum with its display of 9th century Viking longboats. The official residence of the Norwegian royal family is open to the public in the summers. Not surprisingly, Oslo also has an electric nightlife. Neighborhood cafes and trendy eateries serve delicious fusion food that marries traditional Nordic cuisine with global favorites. Enjoy your sushi along with a platter of polse (local hot dogs) and a jug of local beer.

2 Nights

Alesund

Perched across a cluster of narrow islands, where the Atlantic meets the entrance to Geirangerfjord, Alesund is a port town on the west coast of Norway. A catastrophic fire in 1904 leveled much of the city, and what rose from the ash was rebuilt almost entirely in the Art Nouveau style then sweeping through Europe. The result is an urban landscape showcasing ornate facades, curved turrets and decorative stonework along the waterfront. Walk the narrow streets along Brosundet Canal, where the water reflects the pastel townhouses above. Climb the steps of Mount Aksla to the Fjellstua viewpoint, where the full sweep of islands, sea and the distant Sunnmore Alps opens before you. The Jugendstilsenteret Art Nouveau Centre provides insight into the town’s architectural legacy. There is also the Atlanterhavsparken Aquarium, which is worth a visit. A short drive from town brings you to Alnes Lighthouse on Godoy Island, standing at the edge of the ocean. Alesund sits at the threshold of Geirangerfjord, placing one of Norway’s great natural wonders within easy reach. The town makes a good base for fjord day trips and scenic drives through the Sunnmore Alps.

Day 5 – 6

Your chauffeur will drive you from Alesund to Geiranger in a private vehicle. Enroute you will visit . (Duration without stops: 2hrs)

1 Night

Geiranger

This village sits in the inner reaches of Geirangerfjord in western Norway, in one of the most geologically dramatic landscapes in Scandinavia. The fjord itself, a UNESCO World Heritage site, cuts deep between vertical mountain walls that rise hundreds of meters. The walls are covered with waterfalls that have carved the same paths for thousands of years. The Seven Sisters cascade in seven distinct threads across the cliff face directly opposite the Suitor, a single fall that local legend says is a rejected suitor raising his bottle in response. Above the waterline, abandoned cliffside farms like Skageflå cling to ledges and are only reachable on foot. The Dalsnibba Skywalk and Flydalsjuvet viewpoint each allow you to take in the fjord from a different elevation. Experience the Eagle Road’s hairpin curves and visit the Norwegian Fjord Centre to learn more about the landscape and regional history.

Day 6 – 7

Your chauffeur will drive you from Geiranger to Flam in a private vehicle. (Duration: 4.5hrs)

1 Night

Flam

At the innermost reach of the Aurlandsfjord in western Norway, Flam sits where still water meets sheer rock, surrounded by the mountains. The village has long served as a transit point between Norway’s coastal fjords and its interior highlands. The UNESCO-listed Nærøyfjord extends from here in narrow, cathedral-like proportions, its walls rising hundreds of meters above the water. Electric fjord cruises move quietly through that corridor, close enough to the rock face to hear waterfalls before they come into view. The Rjoandefossen cascade drops dramatically near the valley floor, and the Stegastein viewpoint platform extends over the fjord at a sharp angle, offering an unobstructed view of the landscape below. The Flam Railway, one of the steepest standard-gauge rail lines in the world, climbs nearly 900 meters through 20 kilometers of tunnels, bridges and open mountain terrain before reaching Myrdal. The Flam Railway Museum traces the engineering history of that climb. And for some local flavors, the Aegir Brewpub allows you to sample Nordic craft beers.

Your chauffeur will drive you from Flam to Bergen in a private vehicle. Enroute you will visit 5hrs – Private Enroute Activity – The Fjord Cruise from Flåm to Gudvangen with Private Drive to Bergen (Guide not Included | Private transfer included). (Duration without stops: 5hrs)

2 Nights

Bergen

Framed by seven mountains and opening onto the dramatic coastal inlets of western Norway, Bergen is the country’s gateway to the fjords. This was once the largest city in Scandinavia and a dominant force in the medieval Hanseatic trading network. Nowhere is that history more tangible than along Bryggen, the UNESCO World Heritage-listed wharf where centuries-old timber warehouses stand above the harbor. Salt air drifts off the water as vendors at the Bergen Fish Market arrange the morning’s catch. The city is built to be explored on foot, with winding lanes threading between wooden houses. Ride the Fløibanen Funicular to the summit of Mount Fløyen and the city fans out below, a dense cluster of rooftops pressed between mountain and sea. The Mount Ulriken Cable Car offers an even higher vantage point, with the Sognefjord and Hardangerfjord stretching toward the horizon. Bergen receives frequent rainfall year-round, so pack your rain gear before heading out.
