Lake Batur, the largest lake in Bali, offers a peaceful sojourn amid a verdant landscape replete with mountains, water bodies and quaint villages. The clear blue waters of the lake reflect the sun’s rays perfectly, offering a mesmeric sight to onlookers. Beautiful vistas and great photo opportunities abound around the lake. On a clear and sunny day, you can catch a glimpse of the volcano and its inner crater. The landscape here has been created over centuries and shaped by many volcanic eruptions and you can even see the lava streams of previous eruptions upon closer inspection. There are many little villages dotting the foothills around Mount Batur. Makeshift shops selling fresh garden vegetables and fruits add a burst of color to the surroundings. Not far from Lake Batur is Pura Ulun Danau Batur, one of the most ancient and important temples in Bali.
