Famed for its ancient forests and striking rock formations, Sequoia National Park ranges across the Sierra Nevada mountains of southern California. More than 30 groves of giant sequoia trees have lent their name to this park, particularly the General Sherman Tree that towers over the Giant Forest. It’s also famous for beautiful geological formations, such as the underwater Crystal Cave where glittering streams thread their way past rocks, naturally sculpted in spectacular shapes. One of the most interesting features of the park is the Tunnel Tree, fashioned out of a fallen tree. Pass right through a hollowed-out trunk so that you can make your way to the top of the Moro Rock where some of the most breathtaking views of the entire valley await you. Hikes and drives through the park also allow for wildlife sightings that can range from pikas and mule deers to myriad bird species and black bears.
