Santiago´s metro is South America’s most extensive metro system and provides a safe and smooth journey. Travel to the Yungay neighborhood where you will explore the many monuments, churches, parks and traditional buildings that are found here. Visit La Peluquería Francesa ‘The French Beauty Parlor,’ which is the most iconic building of the neighborhood and one of the oldest buildings in Santiago. If you wish you can visit the National Museum of Natural History or the Museum of Memory and Human Rights which discusses dictatorship which ruled Chile from 1973 to 1990. As the busiest city of Southern Patagonia, Punta Arenas has vibrant neighborhoods like the Plaza de Armas and the bustling Bories Street. Check out an amazing replica of Magellan’s galleon at the Museo Nao Victoria or old carriages and houses on display at the Museum of Memories. Enjoy a breezy walk up the Hill of the Cross for a panoramic view of the city and later tuck into sinful chocolate desserts at a picturesque cafe. On day two of your expedition, fly from Punta Arenas to King Georges Island where a refreshing walk takes you to the shore. Get on a Zodiac to be transported to your cruise ship after which you are ready to set sail. Days three through five mark your exploration of sub-Antarctic landscape. Sail through bays and channels to view breathtaking icebergs in the distance or the elegant dive of a whale. Land on shores to watch seabirds in their natural habitat or wander ahead to glimpse penguins nesting in their rookeries. Enjoy the sight of hundreds of seals sunning themselves on beaches even as your Expeditions Team scours for the best viewing spots and landings. Days six and seven are to be forever etched in your memory as you cross the Antarctic Circle to actually touch the White continent. Celebrate your entry to the 66°33´ S latitude with a bottle of bubbly as you gaze in wonder at the stunning icescapes all around. Journey back northwards over days eights and nine. Watch out for frolicking fur seals or curious gentoo penguins as you sail by the glittering landscape. Catch a glimpse of an albatross diving for fish or feel a thrill down your spine at the boom of a calving glacier in the distance.

On day seven disembark the ship at King Georges Island after which you are ready to take the chartered flight back to Punta Arenas. As you fly across the Drake Passage over the next two and a half hours, marvel at the stunning design of sea, ice and land down below. Land at Punta Arenas and after your group transfer to the hotel, the evening is yours to enjoy as you please. Browse through the boutique stores and hip cafes along the coast road or unwind over a drink at your hotel with pleasurable reminisces of your Antarctic expedition.
