North Pole: The Ultimate Arctic Adventure (Day 2)
Embarkation in Murmansk: From Helsinki, join your fellow passengers aboard your chartered flight to Murmansk in Russia. A short ride later, disembark from the plane and set off on your voyage to the North Pole aboard your cruise ship. This is your first introduction to 50 Years of Victory, a nuclear icebreaker that will be your home for the journey ahead.
North Pole: The Ultimate Arctic Adventure (Days 3 – 6)
Northbound in the Arctic Ocean: Embark on a voyage across the Arctic Ocean! Every day is a new adventure on board the ‘Victory’. Feel the thrill of the icebreaker crushing through packs of Arctic ice as you make your way towards the North Pole. An experience you cannot miss is going for a ride in the ship’s helicopter. Enjoy magnificent aerial views of the vast, iceberg-dotted ocean as you soar above the ship. Depending on the climate and ice conditions, the crossing can take anywhere between four to six days, during which time you can get to know your shipmates and make new friends over drinks at the bar or coffee in the lounge. Watch a presentation on the upcoming Arctic attractions or engage in lively discussions with your Expedition Team while looking out for birdlife on deck. Go for a swim in the ship’s heated saltwater plunge pool or play a game in the basketball court.
North Pole: The Ultimate Arctic Adventure (Day 7)
90° North: Arrive at the top of the world! Exchange hugs with your fellow passengers, pop some champagne or wave your country’s flag as your destination, the North Pole 90°, looms closer. Record the event and make sure that you will remember this moment for the rest of your life! Afterwards, get down onto the ice and have a celebration party with everyone over drinks and a barbeque. If the weather conditions are right, you might have the opportunity to take a plunge in the cold icy waters around the North Pole or look upon it from a hot air balloon high above. We guarantee that both experiences will create some treasured lifetime memories!
North Pole: The Ultimate Arctic Adventure (Day 8)
Southbound in the Arctic Ocean: Unwind and settle in for an easeful journey as you glide southwards on the Arctic Ocean. After all the excitement of the past few days, take a beat to just sit back and savor your time at sea. Chat with your friends and play a few board games to pass the time. Sip on cocktails at the bar or simply curl up with your favourite book or movie in the lounge. As you sail further South, depending on your luck, you might be able to spot polar bears hunting for seals. Your expedition team can help you with keeping an eye out for polar bears, seals or birdlife around the ship. Otherwise, just enjoy your time sailing on the ice-covered ocean and admiring the haunting white scenery all around.
North Pole: The Ultimate Arctic Adventure (Days 9 – 10)
Franz Josef Land and the Arctic Ocean: Explore Franz Josef Land and go for Zodiac Cruises on the sea! A group of 200 islands which form the northernmost archipelago in Eurasia, Franz Josef Land is entirely within the Arctic Circle. Guided by your Expedition Team, explore Cape Flora, the famous site where British yachtsman and explorer Benjamin Leigh Smith was shipwrecked in 1881, an event which was followed by a series of ill-fated Arctic expeditions over the years. Discover the historic remains from three of these expeditions as you tour the area on the southern edge of the archipelago over the course of two days. If conditions allow, you can also get the rare opportunity to board a Zodiac vessel and cruise below the cliffs to hidden seabird colonies which would not be accessible on a normal ship. A ride on the Victory helicopter high above the archipelago is another exhilarating experience that offers beautiful aerial views of the Arctic Circle!
North Pole: The Ultimate Arctic Adventure (Days 11 – 12)
Southbound at Sea: Journey southwards on the Arctic Ocean! As your voyage winds down, cross the Arctic Ocean again as you make your way back to Murmansk. Enjoy your remaining time on board the Victory by sharing photos with your shipmates and reminiscing about the good times you had. Sip on a cocktail at the bar or catch your last glimpses of the passing icy scenery from the deck. Your expedition team will assist you with anything, be it questions you may have on disembarking, pointing out wildlife during the journey or even for some good old fashioned conversations about expeditions, work and life in general. These quiet days at sea are the ones that you will recall most fondly later on, so make them memorable!
North Pole: The Ultimate Arctic Adventure (Day 13)
