Few neighborhoods in Rio offer the physical beauty, history and charm of Santa Teresa. Located high upon the hills of the city, Santa Teresa overlooks virtually the entire city, including downtown and Guanabara Bay. Santa Teresa is home to the famous ‘bonde’, the street cars of the early 20th century. The neighborhood also offers some of Rio’s most exciting cultural and artistic activities, as well as wonderful restaurants. Enjoy a delicious lunch at one of Santa Teresa’s culinary hotspots specializing in traditional Brazilian food (not included in rate). Itinerary: We will leave the hotel by metro and stop at the Catete subway station to get a taxi to the ‘Bonde’ (station, where we will proceed across the Lapa Arches and up the hill to the charming neighborhood of Santa Teresa itself. Leave the ‘Bonde’ at Largo dos Guimarães to explore the innumerous cultural houses, galleries and pick our favorite spot for a delicious lunch (not included in rate). We will descend the hill by ‘Bonde’, once again, to the nearest metro station to return to our hotel. Important note: the tram is out of operation for a complete overhaul, until the return of its operation we will go up to Santa Teresa by car/van that are following the route of the tram. Full Day Corcovado And Sugarloaf Tour
This private full day tour takes you to the two major landmarks of Rio, in fact of Brazil: Corcovado and Sugarloaf Mountain. Begin the tour by riding the cog-wheel train up Corcovado Mountain to reach the spectacular view at the summit. Marvel at the Christ the Redeemer statue, built at the top of the mountain and gaze down on the entire city of Rio de Janeiro. Next visit the famous Sugarloaf Mountain, reaching the top by cable car.
