Walk by the Classics of Berlin

Visit iconic landmarks in the capital city of Germany with an expert tour guide. Tour Postdam by Car

Spend a day driving through the city of Potsdam, the capital of the German federal state of Brandenburg. Learn about the historic importance of the city, which borders the German capital Berlin and is part of the Berlin/Brandenburg Metropolitan Region. Visit a series of interconnected lakes around the city, an area where the Prussian kings and the German Kaiser resided until 1918. Spend time at important cultural landmarks, such as the parks and palaces of Sanssouci, the largest World Heritage site in Germany. You will also visit Cecilienhof, the palace that hosted the Potsdam Conference, the major post-World War II conference between the victorious Allies. Learn how Potsdam developed into a scientific hub in the 19th century while you explore its three public colleges, the University of Potsdam and more than 30 research institutes in the city. Oberwesel

Discover Oberwesel, a charming medieval town on the Middle Rhine. Enjoy panoramic views over the old town as you walk on a path on the two mile-long town wall, which winds around the spectacular Altstadt or town center. Gaze out from the remains of one of the 16 historic guard towers, from where you can see the railway line, laid in 1857, and the river beyond. Nearby, the 12th century Gothic Church Liebfrauenkirche is a beautiful sight with its intricate stained-glass windows and majestic architecture. Oberwesel also boasts several other churches and chapels that have stood the test of time and now offer insights into the town’s rich history. Located in the Rhine Gorge, a UNESCO World Heritage site, a walk around town also offers glimpses of local life, such as residents engaged in fishing, trading and selling handicrafts at the quaint market.

Heidelberg

The ruins of Heidelberg Castle, an inspiration to artists such as Goethe and William Turner, sits perched on a hilltop, its silhouette towering over the city. Having escaped World War II unscathed, this thriving city with its churches, castles and other historic landmarks, invites you to explore its many attractions. Being a university town with a sizable student population, there is no dearth of happening night clubs and jazz venues. Visit around Christmastime for a glimpse of the famous market that extends across the oldest part of the city. Savor the aroma of hot chestnuts, cinnamon, and roasted almonds wafting through the air and children and adults gliding over Germany’s most beautiful ice rink.

Journey back in time with a walking tour of Heidelberg that covers the two most popular historical sites, the Old Town and the Heidelberg Castle. Wind through romantic cobbled paths to reach the Altstadt (or Old Town) and then explore the atmospheric Marketplatz or town square, lined with outdoor cafes and boutique stores. Witness the medieval grandeur of the Heidelberg University founded as far back as the 14th century, and breathe in the venerable air of the Heiliggeistkirche or Church of the Holy Spirit.
