Phinda Reserve lies in an area that consists of boulder outcrops on the foothills of the Lebombo mountains, acacia bushveld and woodlands, and dense reedbeds at the margins of the river. Seven distinct eco-systems have been identified within Phinda’s mountain range, including wetlands, sand forest and coastal plain. Apart from the 400 different species of birds, other animals commonly seen are elephant, giraffe, rhino, zebra, cheetah, hyaena, hippo, crocodile, wildebeest, impala, monkeys, leopard and lion. Phinda Mountain Lodge has spectacular views of the Ubombo Mountains. Each of the 20 air-conditioned chalets feature spacious en-suite bathrooms, sitting areas and spectacular viewing decks. The main lodge offers a swimming pool with game viewing deck, lounge, African craft gallery, as well as a candle-lit boma where you can enjoy Pan-African cuisine. (Category: 5 Star Safari Lodge)
